Why Hate Her
Did you notice...
- If you listen to Ayumi's studio backing vocals carefully, you'll see just how different the tune is to how Peko sings
them live. With just a few exceptions, Peko sings in the same key every song, paying no attention to the original backing
vocals, and actually seems to make up the tune as she goes along. Try listening to the examples below. One is a short clip
of how Ayumi sings the backing vocals to "Free & Easy", and the other one is a live performance with Peko & Princess
making up the backing tune as they go.

- Again, if you're one to listen carefully to Ayumi's studio vocals, you'll notice something about her TV show performances
(e.g. Music Station): Peko and Princess very often lip-sync to Ayumi's own backing vocals. They serve no purpose doing something
like that, so they are basically there just to appear on TV. As a side-note to that, I've noticed a few occasions where Peko
and Princess have been dubbed over in concerts. How bad must they have sung to actually have been dubbed??
- As Ayumi's choreographer, Peko isn't very imaginative when it comes to inventing dance moves for herself, Ayu and the
dancers. She seems to repeat the same three main moves continually: the 'touch yourself up' dance, the 'touch yourself down'
dance, and the 'super high kick'. No matter the song, ignoring the lyrics and style of music, these three moves are repeated
tastelessly and without imagination.
- No longer content with just being a choreographer for the biggest star in Japan, behind the scenes and unseen, Peko
has wormed her way into her place beside Ayumi onstage. In a short period of time, she has been given backing vocals to ALL
of Ayu's live songs, her own solos, backing dances, more camera coverage that most of the band, and even studio recordings.
Now she seems to think of herself as Ayumi's co-star rather than backup singer.
- Any fan of Yoshio Nomura (Ayumi's great guitarist Yo-chan) has got to hate Peko for one very important reason: she
steals his guitar solos. Where there used to be fabulous rocking instrumental parts of live performances, they are now mostly
drowned out by Peko's "yeah yeah"s, "woh woh"s, and whiney screeches.
- If you happen to be a Christian, you will probably be quite offended by one of Peko's solos, where she procedes to
growl sexily: "Uh-uh, yeah-eh... Jesus... Jesus loves me..." whislt touching herself up.
- This is one you've GOT to have noticed: Peko looks like a man with a huge curly wig, dressed as a street whore.
- Her microphone is always TOO LOUD! In the TV versions of concerts, especially, she often sings over Ayumi (completely
off-key and whiney, might I add), making Ayumi sound terrible.
- She seems to be a friend of Ayumi's, which would explain why she was hired when she is utterly without talent. Ayumi
makes all decisions herself, so Peko must have been promoted to backup singer directly by her. One thing: I don't know if
everyone knows this, but, AYUMI IS COMPLETELY DEAF IN ONE EAR. She probably doesn't even know how bad her friend actually
sings!
Why Peko Haters are Ayu Lovers:
Those of you who only care about Ayumi's looks and fashion wouldn't really care about all this, though, so long as Ayu-chan looks cute. If the main thing you're interested in is what new costume Ayumi
is going to be wearing in her concert, or what colour her hair is now, then you probably won't consider the show ruined by
Peko and Princess. But we do.
If Peko were an artist who released her own music and did her own concerts ONLY, I would not hate her. She could sing
as off-key as she wanted, whine and screech and growl away, crammed into her most sleazy outfits, doing whichever of her three
dance moves she wanted. I would let her be. It's just that SHE IS RUINING THE LIVE PERFORMANCES OF THE GREATEST FEMALE ARTIST
IN THE WORLD.
She is bringing Ayumi down with her bad (and too loud) backing vocals, brainless dance moves, unstylish look, tasteless
outfits, and desire for the limelight. She's becoming more and more prominent with each concert. And she is responsible for
Ayumi sacrificing vocal quality to do little dance moves, making her look ridiculous and sound less than perfect because she
is not a natural dancer. It should be about the MUSIC, the beautiful poetry that Ayumi writes for us, her voice that has grown
stronger and more lovely over the years that carries emotion so powerfully that she brings tears to people's eyes. Ayumi should
be a solo artist, not part of a string of prancing dolly-birds.
Peko must be stopped.
